We are heading full speed into one of my FAVORITE times of year, well, actually, Summer in general is my favorite! Yes, I’m a Summer baby! Not only is it my birthday season, but June is PRIDE Month!!
One thing you need to know about me is that I am a full-blown romantic! I do believe Love is Love, and it should be experienced no matter who you are (adults only, we do not support those other questionable choices). I love being able to attend Pride events to support my fellow Rainbow friends and family. It’s so much fun, and the community is always so welcoming. If you’ve never gone, I would highly encourage you to check out what your city may put together.
What’s the last book you read by a Queer author or that had Queer characters in it? If the answer is you don’t remember, then maybe we need to incorporate a book or two. This is by no means to push an agenda, but I would 1000% say the same thing if you only read books by white authors, or male authors, or you’ve never read a Middle-Grade book.
There’s something truly magical that happens when you crack open a book with characters who don’t look like you, and read their story within the pages. That experience really helps water those seeds of empathy. This is one of my favorite sayings, by the way. We as a people should continue to want to be better and continue to want to extend compassion to others, not to be converted, but to simply gain understanding. I hope you can find a book within this post that sparks your interest, I’d love to hear about it!
Book Besties
Very similar to my Black Book post, being on the book side of Instagram has really opened doors to multiple genres and books I would not normally see on display at the bookstore. I’ve met (thru the interweb) so many amazing individuals that also share a love of diverse books including Queer characters and authors.
