I won’t even lie, I’ve been slacking on reading some anticipated releases. But I was finally able to get around to this one and once I got my footing, I completely ate this up!
This is a multiple POV, multi generational story about messy families and messy consequences. I love drama, not mine obvi, but give me a story with relatable characters and their drama and I’m sat! This story does timeline hop but once you figure out who is who, it helps you maneuver throughout the story.

Joni (Mom) ➡️ Mae
If you enjoy stories with motherly relationships and watching friends grow together and sometimes grow apart, then I would recommend this one. You’ll find 4 very distinct voices here and see that there’s no right way to parent but no matter your choices, everything has a consequence.

Finally getting to start my book pick for our Trav

Finally getting to start my book pick for our Travelling Bookclub 2.0! I found this book as I was browsing new releases for this year and was so excited for the synopsis. It sounds very similar to Yellowface (which I did not read) but the premise is a straight white woman whose an author hits a brick wall and decides to take a story of a gay man.
I’m only a few chapters in but I’m really enjoying the writing style and being in our FMC’s mental space is quite comical. I think she’s comical because I too have internal discussions on so many things, and sometimes they’re even super cringy. I can’t wait for the group to read this one and to see their thoughts on the page!
